The teacher training school, a face brick building constructed in the nineteen eighties, with an important presence in its surrounding area, Oñati Square, had undergone significant deterioration to its ?outer skin? in recent years. The intention to maintain its original appearance led the team drawing up the project to choose an innovative construction system, the ventilated face brick facade, which, moreover, will allow the closing off of the facade, improving its thermal performance, thereby obtaining an energetically more efficient building.

estudio.k develops the gantza-zelaieta residential sector in abadiño, constructing a bridge

The urban planning of the Gantza-Zelaieta sector in Abadiño has, in three years, seen the extension of the district by means of the execution of streets, squares, pedestrian precincts and a bidegorri (cycle path), which will serve 470 new homes. Among the works we should highlight the construction of a new bridge over the river Atxarte, which will allow direct connection, by means of a new street in the district, with the adjoining one in San Torkaz. This bridge, with a 45.80m span, has been built of concrete post-stressed in situ and crosses the river by means of two openings and a single central pillar. The 14m section of the bridge has two lanes, two pavements and a bidegorri. The new street constitutes a safe and more urban connection between the two districts.

estudio.k end of work on the alterations to the rehabilitation gymnasium at Gorliz Hospital

Work will soon begin on the completion of the alterations to the rehabilitation gymnasium at Gorliz Hospital, estudio.k being the author of the Project and the Work Management. This area is located on the ground floor of the northern wing of the building and occupies an approximate surface area of 1,100m². The ground plan is rectangular and consists of three longitudinal corridors running from north to south, parallel to the square known as Gorliz Square, and a smaller section to the south. Two adjacent actions are also being carried out: firstly, the refurbishment of the ground floor of the adjoining building, to the north-east of the gymnasium, and, secondly, the conditioning of the outer passage linking the hospital, gymnasium, adjoining building and cafeteria.

estudio.k has drawn up the progress report on the PGOU for Larrabetzu, executed upon the basis of the analysis of the current situation of the municipality: natural characteristics of the territory, population, urban field, regulations, etc. 4 alternatives for development are proposed, drawn up in consensus with the Town Hall and the Sectorial Urban Planning Council. At the same time, the Environmental Impact Study is drawn up, analyzing its potential repercussion on the environment. This document, together with the result of the processes for the participation and gathering of suggestions of the residents (Anguleri Palace from 28/02 to 27/04), will serve as a point of reference for the election of the most suitable alternative for the future drawing up of the definitive document of the General Plan.

refurbishment of offices in the rectory building

The "updating" of the Rectory at upv-ehu, on the Leioa campus, has been carried out following a long process of co-ordination between the projects various participants the property, the technical services of the upv-ehu, estudio.k, and with the valuable collaboration of the EGIP and the construction company. Some parties having being more concerned with the buildings interior design and image of the university it represents; others with making the architectural structure itself a seamless addition to the existing building complex on the Leioa campus. The result is an exceptional piece of architecture organic and hospitable, in keeping with the natural environment, and in contrast to the severe aspect of the existing concrete structures. The organic box as we have named it, is an ode to welcoming, simple and functional architecture, whereby both the dimensions and the use of simple, natural, refined materials create an environment that is friendly as well as practical; in line with the less is more philosophy minimalist and organic.

basement SR-1 and 112 social housing

In this Abadiño suburb, next to Casa Torre de Muntsaraz, we are carrying out several assignments, including construction management of the housing development, as well as the design and construction management of garage and storage room basements in two blocks (SR-1 measuring 5,103m² and SR-2 measuring 10,739m²). We are also overseeing the Construction Material Management of 112 units of social housing in the aforementioned block SR-1. In August 2011, works taking place in the area of block SR-1 were completed and approved; the property receiving its part of the development work ? basement SR-1 and the 112 units of social housing. The remaining works are expected to be completed by the end of 2011.

As of 5th September 2011 estudio.k has signed up to the Eco-design Management System in accordance with standard UNE 150301:2003 relating to construction project design and development. This procedure has been put into practise during the design of 3 demi-detached houses in the Asu Sector of Sopelana (Bizkaia) ? a typical example of sustainable construction with a high ranking in terms of its innovative energy efficiency through the use of CLT plywood as a fundamental element in its walls, flooring and roofing.

the final version of the General Town Plan of Bermeo has been approved

The council of Bermeo has approved the final version of the General Town Plan, thus completing the work carried out by estudio.k for its drafting. During this process, the public?s involvement has been of key importance, particularly the setting up of groups to debate the various development alternatives proposed in the Planning phase. In this way, the town?s residents have been able to put forward their ideas, adding to the criteria taken into account in the chosen planning strategy. In parallel, estudio.k has drafted the corresponding Joint Environmental Impact Assessment, which is a comprehensive analysis of the way that the main proposed works affect the environment in which they are located.

access to Sector A Arrankudiaga

The housing estate in Sector A of Arrankudiaga is comprised of a group of detached and semi-detached houses. The project has involved the implementation of a new, channelled T-intersection linking the sectors roads to the BI-625. The stretch of road concerned is 300 m long, and deceleration lanes have been put in place to allow access from the road into the sector. An underpass has been redesigned and extended to provide pedestrian access to the new sector, connecting it to the centre of Elexalde, located on the opposite side of the road. This was achieved using a reinforced concrete frame 300 x 225m. Two bus stops and two pedestrian walkways have been built on both sides of the road. The road has remained in service throughout the entirety of the works.
